My name is George Miklas, international performing artist.  I am a former member of Jerry Murad's HARMONICATS, who were famous for their 1947 worldwide hit recording of "Peg O My Heart"

What I Do
  1. HARMONICA
    George is known around the world in association with the harmonica. His life's passions and pursuits are performing & promoting high level musicianship with harmonicas. He learned from the masters Jerry Murad, Cham Ber Huang, Al Fiore, Dick Gardner, Dominic & Tony Sgro, and many more. He is also an advocate for harmonicas in schools (K-12 Music Education), & medicine (respiratory therapy).
  2. ELECTRIC BASS GUITAR
    As a free-lance bassist, George has performed on stage and in pit orchestras. Most recently he has played for Fiddler On The Roof, High School Musical, and Seussical The Musical, and he regularly appears with The Fabuous Sgro Brothers, from Elmira, NY. George's formal training was on the Double Bass and Electric Bass with Professor Tony Leonardi, The Dana School of Music, Youngstown, Ohio
  3. TUBA
    As a free-lance tubist, George has played on stage and in pit orchestras. He enjoys playing in area bands, as well as TubaChristmas. George's formal training was under the instruction of Professor John R Turk, Dana School of Music, Youngstown, Ohio, and master classes with Sumner Erikson, Tucker Jolly, Arnold Jacobs, and Brian Bowman. George's professional experience includes section Tuba, and substitute Principal Tuba with the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, AFM Local 86-242, and The W.D. Packard Concert Band, AFM Local 118.
  4. TEACHER
    George has earned teacher certification in Ohio and Pennsylvania, in the areas of Music Ed, Special Ed, Math, Science, Social Studies, Technology Ed, Driver Ed, & Family & Consumer Science. George was a counselor in a residential juvenile facility for delinquent youth for 7 years. He taught cyber school for 1 year, Emotional Support for 5 years, and Learning Support for 5 years. George retired in December 2016.
  5. DRIVER
    George has a Class A Commercial Driver's License and has driven various types of commercial vehicles since high school. In 1994 he added School Buses, and then deluxe motor coaches in 1995. He is currently employed by Liberty University Transit, Lynchburg, VA as professional motor coach operator
  6. INSTRUMENT REPAIR
    George is an internationally known harmonica and melodica repair technician. His services include basic cleaning, to reed replacement, comb reconstruction, to fully refurbishing vintage instruments. George's handy work is used in symphony orchestra performances, TV sound studio recordings, and by enthusiasts all over the world.
